As a busy law firm, we sometimes have to remind ourselves to slow down and remember why we are here, as a law firm and as individuals. Of course, we can easily come up with the “right” answers: we are here for our clients, for our families, for our careers. But, as we discussed the firm’s accomplishments on behalf of our clients in a recent staff meeting, the true answer became apparent. We are here because we love helping our clients pursue their passions, and because our clients’ pursuit of their passions changes the world. Who wouldn’t want to have a part in changing the world?
Our firm is unique. We represent charities, foundations, churches, schools, and other tax-exempt organizations. Our clients are not in it for the money. There are no shareholders’ pockets to fill. There is no promise of a big house, a fancy car, or a luxury vacation. Instead, our clients are driven to serve the hurting man, to lift him up, to feed him, to embrace him. This passion is infectious, and we get to catch it.
So when we draft bylaws, you give specially designed adaptive bikes to handicapped children. When we communicate with the IRS on your behalf, you start bible colleges to train ministers and missionaries. When we negotiate your contracts, you provide hope for victims of human trafficking. When we write policies, you help released prisoners reform their lives. When we work for you, you do what most can’t. You change lives. You change the world.
Our passion is helping you pursue yours. We fulfill our purpose by solving your problems, so you can focus on touching lives. That is why we are here. We want to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, than our firm.
So as we weigh the things we are grateful for this holiday season, we include among our many blessings your passion for the hurting, the poor, the abandoned, the orphaned, the widowed, the disabled, and the unloved.
